Solo recording, online concerts and research in practice

Troy Tang and Wang Shuyi have confirmed their collaboration. The April 2027 project is in implementation and has been referred directly to second reading. Beginning with a small concert or music festival, it brings together their solo practice, live audio recording and video production, with work shared online.

An outline has been submitted. Joint arrangements will be scheduled in light of the Hamburg music college’s response, with an in-person meeting intended to develop the work further. Building on this initial project, the artists will explore research topics, arts salons, interviews, research discussions and further performance formats. Longer-term use of university facilities and any ticketed performances will be determined separately, taking account of the institution’s response, practical conditions and applicable requirements; no institutional commitment is implied.

Troy Tang is currently seeking research funding and project sponsorship in a personal capacity. Detailed dates, formats and subsequent projects will be announced as the work progresses.

Earlier ideas and future development

Earlier ideas included piano, flute and chamber music in different ensemble sizes, with or without strings. These ideas are currently on hold, with no restart date set. Their future development will be considered alongside the German project. Educational activities and further orchestral collaboration will be reviewed as opportunities and practical conditions develop.
